Phone 1st, then notes home
By Teach1st

Clip to ScrapBook
I have a similar behavior card system in my room. For some of my more troublesome students I have called the parents. During this call I explain that I have a quick form I would like to begin sending home every day with their child. The form simply is divided into morning, afternoon, lunch, recess. If they are good during this time I just make a smiley face. If not, they get a frown and a brief explanation of what happened. On the bottom of the form are my phone numbers so they can call me if they would like more details on what happened. This way takes less time for me than a phone call and invites the parents to take control of their child's behavior.
