Cleaning up
By Kathy

Clip to ScrapBook
I'm a classroom teacher so I'll give you my perspective. I try to always leave my classroom clean and also have the students "tidy up" throughout the day as well as do their "classroom jobs" before dismissal.

When I
come back to a room with things strewn from one end to the other it makes me wonder what on earth went on in my absence!!! (Even if I get a note from the sub saying it was a great day, I still wonder!)

If I come back to an organized room with things picked up, a paper clip around collected assignments, and a note telling me how the day went, it's an indicator to me that the day must

have gone fairly well. (Fair or not, that's my evaluation)

You will always find subs (and classroom teachers) who do the bare minimum. My advice would be to continue "going the extra mile." It's noticed, believe me!

P.S. You don't have to do all the "picking up" yourself. Students can be great helpers!
