I know on my daily assignments, I look at 10% the first day, 20% the second day and then 50% the third day it is late. My guess would be that dad figures they won't be docked any points since he put in a call to you. You might want to call dad and talk to him about his expectations for the grade (does he think they are getting full credit or that they will be penalized?) Dad might try to use his pull as board chairman to get the grade he wants for the children.
