My FAV children's author! You have to visit her website! http://www.patriciapolacco.com/
I have so many of her books! I broke students into groups(3 or 4 to a group). They
each took a book. They had to read it, discuss it (I had questions for each book), do a story map, poster to promote, and a skit to be presented to the class. They turned out so well! The kids loved it! I plan to do it again this year.

I just read The Keeping Quilt today and we compared it to our reading story, The Patchwork Quilt. Since this particular story focuses on history

in the quilt squares, your students could make a quilt (could be of paper squares) of stories of things that have happened in your classroom this year. You could add to it as the year progresses.

With the story where the kids make the eggs (the title has escaped me since it is late) they could make their own "pysanky" eggs.

I also printed pictures from her websites of various books and they had to answer questions about them.

She has so many books! THe possibilities are endless. Be sure to check out that site!

Have Fun! If you come up with other ideas, PLEASE post back, for I am always looking for new ideas to add to my Units/Studies!
