gifts for my students

Years when I know that ALL of my kids celebrate Christmas (like this year) I make them train ornaments out of candy (lifesaver roll, 4 starlight mints, a pack of stick gum - 5 pieces, and a Hersey's kiss) to go with the story "The Polar Express" that I read to them on the last day before Winter Break. The trains are really cute and the kids love them (especially since they are edible). There is another teacher who also reads this book to her kids when she knows they all celebrate Christmas and she gives them bells.
