middle school & jumping around
By Ken

Clip to ScrapBook
Natalie,

I've done a number of these types of situations as well as middle school special ED/LD classes and am shortly off to another call.

The lack of time to prep. when called from room to room is stressful and I frankly
hate it when teacher leaves just busy work but I also realize I must do what teacher leaves.

I have learned to be very up-front with the kids on behavior expectations and to quickly jump on the 1st one to test you. If you don't you will get chewed up. But I also make sure I don't overreact and lecture the whole group when it's just one or two unless, of course, they all want to test

me.

If I know of an assignment beforehand I try to get in touch with the teacher to get a heads up on any readings and at least try to find a synopsis on the Internet. That's about the best I can do but at least it helps me get up to speed on the lesson.

Best of luck, Ken in WI
