I know what you mean about not being able to follow an individual student by computer. The program has paper and pencil assessments available in black line masters.
I also know the 'game' you are talking about but while that 'game' is great on sequencing there are so many more programs that get 'down to business'. For 2-4, try roadwriter. It has pre-writing, revising, etc. It will not allow you to write a final draft or play a really fun game until everything is completed. For 1st try the three decoders.
Books with objectives listed come with each game, so you can choose what game they can or cannot play. Hope this helps!
