Clip to ScrapBook
I was able to talk to Mr. Sachar on the phone about the letters from my students, and he told me that I should send them to his publisher (I think Meg has all all that info. in her post ). When he wrote back, the return address
on the envelope was Camp Green Lake! I do hope your student gets a reply, as it made such a tremendous impact on my students to see each of their names printed on the letter!

Now for the "said" words... these are just the synonyms for the word "said," used in dialogue. I had one student who kept an ongoing list of these words on the board during reading time.

I am smiling about

your "girl scout camp" saying, because that is what I heard a lot, especially from my male students Also, poor Stanley's no-good-dirty-rotten-pig-stealing-great-great-grandfather also got the blame for things not going so well in our class!

I get such a kick when my students "make connections" with books like this!
