Playing the game...

In the district that I sub in, substitute teachers are RARELY hired when full-time positions become available simply because they do not want to lose their substitute teacher base. As an individual who was subbing while going back to school to get my M. Ed., I had to make the choice not to play their game and play a bit of hard ball. I applied for the position, removed myself from the substitute list (I subbed elsewhere instead) and lo and behold, I got the job. Go figure...
