extra papers

i don't know if this will work for 3rd--i teach 6th. i got sick of copying 15 extras and then none being used and then for other assignments, needing to go copy 2 more and then 2 more....I copy 1 (sometimes 2) more than i need when i do my original copying--i place a red X on the extra and place it/them in a silver binder labeled extra papers. students have to go there, copy the assignment by hand, and then do it--cuts back on a lot of copying for me! does it cut back on number of kids who don't do their work? no.
