Books are always good

simon says

7 up

math game where you say a problem out loud and kids have to do it in their head-
like 3+5 -2 X 3 + 10 you give them a minute as you are saying it so they can do the operation
in their head. 1/2 the students get lost by the time you get to the end but they catch on quickly and are very excited when they can follow it all the way to the end.

Backs to the board- good for grade 1-5
2 kids stand with backs to the board and when you give a problem (depending on age) like 6 + 6

The kids do not have to write the problem-only the answer. The first one to

write the answer correctly gets to stay up and the other person gets to pick a new person to try to beat the other person. (good quick game while waiting for buses!)

1st grade easy addition
2nd can use basic math facts (adding or subtracting)
can use multiplication with older kids

Someone else posted a game called sink or rescue...which I can't wait to use. sounds like fun....
