    Word Problems
    By Melinda

    Clip to ScrapBook
I use the following with my children which I got from Houghton Mifflin:

1.) Understand- What is the question asking you?
2.) Plan- What are you going to do to solve this problem (add, subtract, divide, ect.)
3.) Solve- Work out the problem.
4.) Look Back- Check your work. Does the answer that you got make sense with what the problem is asking you?

We review it every time before we do word problems and it really seems to help!
