Gum
By Grace

Clip to ScrapBook
Yes, heather is right, there is research that says that gum chewing is actually good for concentration and stimulates the brain. Certain music is supposed to have the same effect.
I don't chew gum myself but one teacher
in our school would do it.
The main reason for stopping our kids from using it is that children often dispose of their gum in the wrong place. There is something horrible about putting your hand under a desk and finding a piece of someone else's gum stuck there. I can still remember that feeling from when I was at school. UGH!!!!!
I have also sat on gum that someone had disposed
of and tried to pick gum out of a child's hair or off their clothes. Not a pleasant job. These are some of the reasons for not allowing children to chew gum, as well as the potential choking hazard and the child who sees nothing wrong in swallowing it when all the taste has gone. Not a good idea.
If you do speak to the principal, these are some of the reasons you may be told.
