By hope this helps

SHOOTING FOR THE STARS

Before students arrive, draw three stars on the board. After explaining the classroom rules for the day, reveal the meaning of the three stars in this way:

“Each star represents 5 minutes of bonus
recess to be given to the class at the end of the day. There are three stars, so you have already earned 15 minutes of extra recess at the end of the day. This is a gift from me to you.

I think you are a three-star class, but you have to prove it to me by following the rules of good behavior today. You need to get quiet when I ask you, walk quietly down the hall and treat everyone

with respect.

If you don’t do these things, I will give you a warning. If you still don’t follow the rules, I will erase a star. Once a star is gone, it is gone forever.

If you keep all three stars on the board and get your work done, we will have 15 minutes of extra recess at the end of the day and I will leave a note telling your teacher that you were an EXCELLENT class.

If you have two stars left at the end of the day, we will have 10 minutes of extra recess and I will tell your teacher that you were a GOOD class.

If you have one star left at the end of the day, we will have 5 minutes of extra recess inside the classroom and I will tell your teacher that you were a PRETTY GOOD class.

If there are no stars left, I will let your teacher know that you had trouble behaving today. She won’t want to hear that, will she?
So, you see, it is up to you what kind of report I leave your teacher, and how much extra recess you get today. Do your best, and let’s keep those stars up there.”
