2nd-I have centers set up for this time. Students are assigned to a differnt one each day.
1)word wall: choose 5 ww words, copy 3 times, use 2 in sentences--paper provided in a folder. 2)art: provide scrap c. paper, scissors, crayons, drawing paper--fun center. 3) computer: partners play educational games. 4) math: individual chalk boards, chalk, erasers, and a set of fact cards that we are working on in Math--choose 5 cards, copy 3 times each with answer. 5) writing: can of story starters and writing paper.
This really keeps them occupied and they enjoy it, quietly. I keep supplies in crates, student names are color coded by days and posted on crate.
