still thinking
By don't wanna say

Clip to ScrapBook
We've done it all: years of counseling, psychiatric help, rehab, jail, setting him up in an apt, telling him to leave (he wouldn't), withdrawing all financial support, you name it.
No advice that begins with "Tell him..."
will have any effect. I know all about enmeshment and enabling, etc....and want him to live elsewhere. Problem: he does what he pleases regardless of whether we tell him to move out/leave. Can the police remove him from our home if it is still listed as his permanent residence? )He's never stayed away more than 3-4 months at a time) He's depressive, self-destructive (evidenced
by the alcohol). No rules we make will be honored. So, do we/can we get the police to put him out on the street? Or do we put a roof over his head because we know he won't ever take care of himself? If we put him on the street--we become one more person to blame for his problems (his idea). If we let him stay--we're enabling wimps. And, yes, he is the only one. Thank God.
