writing center

Clip to ScrapBook
I found it useful to explore different "genres" in mini-lessons with my classes. For example, friendly letters, procedural text, diaries, fiction, reporting (informative)etc.. If we were covering an integrated unit on inventions: students could write a "procedural text" on how they invented something of their own. If we were covering "Fairy Tales", they could write a mock Newspaper report on a fairy tale character. There is a consistent focus on the writing process of: planning, drafting, revising, editing and publishing throughout the year. Students should be able to post their writing on their own spot on the wall for other students to read.
