I use independent or buddy reading every day at center (Work Board) time. Since the children can't tell time, I give them another marker such as "when the listening center people have finished their tape" or when another center group is done. Everyone rotates to the reading center every day but no more than half the class is there at the same time. I like to spread out the quiet. The total center time is about 30 - 45 minutes but they could keep at it productively for an hour.
