I clap a pattern and have the children follow my pattern. The instantly stop talking and try to do it. Also if I want them to come to a circle, I sing, Make a circle, make a circle, make a circle like the sun. Make a circle, make a circle, and we'll all have lots of fun. (to the tune of Oh my darling) The rule is if they are not to the circle and ready by the second singing they don't get to join in the game or whatever we are doing.
