Canned Vegetables

I have had the children in the past bring in canned vegetables instead of raw ones. The soup cooked a lot quicker and it turned out pretty good. I was impressed with how good it tasted. To supplement the lesson (sharing) we invited another classroom in to share the soup and before handing out the soup I reread the story for the other class to hear. I think my class was able to understand the meaning of the story this way. "We would have been able to have more soup ourselves if we did not invite the other class, but we were able to share with others so it made the experience better."
