Dear Brian,
Have you tried partnering up the student with
a "buddy" for the playground? Another thing that I do with my class is I read them short stories from "Chicken Soup for the Kids Soul". There are stories that address many issues to help them understand the impact of words and actions. Most stories are written by kids and lead to great "teachable moments". Hope this helps.
