Not taking it personally
By winkie

Clip to ScrapBook

I know that is hard not to take this woman's behavior personally but, she does have a history of blowing her top with others as well. I think that's what the other teachers mean by not taking her rantings personally.
Consider yourself part of the "club" of people that have had to deal with her in the past. :0) I'm sure that all the parents of your class have heard about this woman as well because of the fist fight of last year. Rest assured that if their child came home from school and told them about her blow up with you, they will not put any merit in it.

How awful to have to stand there and

listen to that! Can you imagine how embarassed her daughter was to have to listen to her mother do that to you? Can you imagine being a child of this woman? What a horrible home life. When you say that she has been turned in to authorities, did the principal call or did the teachers personally call? If you see any more abuse do not quit calling the authorities just because she keeps getting the children back. Sometimes just one more call will get the kids out of the home for good.

By the way, do any of her children come to school smelling of cat urine or dirty socks? I just learned that if someone is cooking meth in the confines of the home, the smell can attach itself to clothing. That could explain the mother's behavior.

Read "A child Called It" sometime. It helped me to not think twice about turning a parent in to the authorities. Sorry, looking out for the child and reporting abuse is kind of my little soap box lately.

I hope this week is better for you.
