red... By Nancy

Hi! I have used this system in the past and I had a positive consequence. I had a jar on my desk and if everyone in the class had a green card at the end of the day I put a large marble in. If there was two or less yellow| cards I put a small marble in. If there were any red cards, no marbles went in the pot. At the end of the month we counted up the marbles. If there were 30 marbles total, the class got a party. If there were 15 large marbles, I made a treat for the party. With younger kids you might want to do this on a weekly basis. Also, to earn extra marbles throughout the month, I might add some if | | everyone lined up quietly or they all remembered to push their chair in. To remind the children, I would pick up the jar and shake it.For consequences, I had my parents aware of the system and some took it upon themselves to give the consequences such as less tv watching or going to bed early. I used loss of recess or a detention after school for those children who consistently had a red card. But I did find the rest of the class kept the troublemakers in line. Make sure that if you use the marble system that for the first month there is definately a party. Hope this helps!
