I am not teaching yet but I do spend a tremendous amount of time in the classroom. My son’s teacher uses a stoplight called the Yacker Tracker. What it does is monitor noise level and the light stays green most of the time. When the noise level gets to a certain level then the yellow light starts blinking. When it reaches to load of a level, the red light flashes and a siren goes off. This keeps the teacher from having to quiet everyone down and as soon as the siren goes off the kids quite down immediately. They soon get used to it and are better able to work at a lower volume level. There are several different people that make them. You can do a search for “Yacker Tracker” on your favorite search engine or click on the link below if it shows up.
