We actually use the Harcourt Brace Reading series. I use the words from the story of the week to get started and then do the activities listed in my first posting to practice. I find that I can't leave it up to students and parents to learn the words so the key is repitition, repitition, repitition. That's my guideline for vocabulary. It has been very successful for the last 3 years.
