Principal Observation
By Amy Lee

Clip to ScrapBook
Wondering,

You may want to have your principal to observe both your assistant and you. Tell him or her your concerns and invite him or her to your class. Then the principal can have both of you in for a follow up evaluation.
It may help to have another adult observe what is happening and I hope your assistant will take the advice of your principal. I would tell your assistant on the day of the observation that the principal will be making an observation of both of you. If she acts different and more appropriate with the principal in the room, then tell her you appreciate how she interacted with you
and you hope it continues. Then I would tell the principal in private that she normally interacts differently and if he or she could make an unannounced observation.
If this was any other job, then your assistant would have already been in the "boss's" office and possibly had a warning for not fullfilling her job duties. I don't believe it should be any different in a school setting. It is unhealthy for both your students and yourself to continue to deal with your assistant's inappropriate behavior. Let us know what happens.
