Sp. Ed
By Nikki

Clip to ScrapBook
I think that it needs to be a cooperative effort on the part of the district and the teachers to make sure there are eligible subs for this Sp. Ed classes. The district can do a better job at offering additional training
for those subs who are willing to do these assignments and the teachers can provide us with as much advance information as possible. For example in the districts I sub for, they use automated calling system swhich allows teachers to utilize a "special instructions" option that would be very useful in providing the type of information that would help the sub in taking over the class. Special
instructions left could include the number of students an aides, a basic outline of the daily routine, etc.. After a harrowing experience earlier this year in which I was basically thrown into a Self Inclusion Unit with very little instruction, I admit to turning down several assignments since then.
