Flying by the seat of your pants

When I was student teaching, my mentor teacher did this to me also. I was upset when she did it, but when I was through, she told me it was to prepare me for when I just haven't planned enough for the day.( When students get their work done faster than planned.) Now that I'm in my own classroom, situations like that don't bother me. I'm prepared with quick learning game, or I teach them a fun song, or make up stories.
