Bringing the Rain to Kapiti Plain....

... by Verna Aardema is a fun book for 2nd graders. It is an African folktale written in a rhythmic, cumulative style about a young native boy who brings rain to the drought-stricken Kapiti plain. I got some good lesson plan ideas for this book from the Reading Rainbow web site. (A great resource for lots of other titles, too...)
