Tapping/beating on desks

I have one boy this year who really likes to beat on his desk as if he were a D.J. in a club or something. I just told him to come up with a solution because it was disturbing everyone. He said "how about a mark every time I beat?" so I decided I would quickly count to 4 when he starts beating then give him a mark. We wrote it on a notecard and he signed it and taped it to his desk. All I have to do is hold my fingers up (1,2)and it stops. I have not had to give him a mark for it. Maybe you could try this for your tappers.
