It just amazes me that parents question the teacher(who has the degree to be teaching)! Don't let her talk you out of it! She doesn't have the right to question your lessons. You know what skills need to be covered and mastered! Maybe she doesn't understand the value of these projects but you do! I teach third and do these as well! Like the other Rebecca stated, this helps with higher order thinking skills! Maybe you can tell her that you plan your lessons/projects very carefully so you cover the skills that the children need to master. You do not give them as busy work. The students benefit from such projects. I believe this and you do too, so keep up the good work! The kids are lucky to have you as a teacher!
