Out-Of-Control-Class By Kim

Hi there. As I read your post I really related to it. The first year I taught 5th graders was a disaster. That summer, I decided to read every book I could on classroom management because I had decided that if I could| not manage a class, I'd find another occupation. Luckily for me, our public library system had sections filled with books on different theories of classroom management. The one I found most helpful was The First Days of School by Harry Wong. The next year I followed his suggestions to the T, and I had about the most well managed class in the school. It saved me and my career. Since | | then, several years later, I no longer use his ideas much because I found how to manage a classroom without the structure. It comes with time. Please give it to yourself. No one goes into this field knowing everything there is to know about classroom management. First years are hard. You will get through it. You will learn from it. And you will become successful at it. My suggestion is to read up on the subject. There are many great authors with great ideas that will help you. They did me. Keep on keeping on. Take care of yourself. A fellow teacher whose been there.
