1. Took a BSc/BEd degree right out of highschool.
2. Every day is different. Helping kids and seeing them "get it". Planning units and activities.
3. That so much of teaching nowadays is management/discipline.
4.
Patience, stamina, vision.
5. I have a BSc (Math) and a BEd- two bachelor's degrees like any Canadian teacher needs.
6. No Masters degree.
7. I saw teaching as a rewarding, dynamic (i.e. changing) profession.
8. Smaller classes (i.e. less than 25)
9. The troubled students who you help.
10. See #9. Putting smiles on kids' faces who don't come into your classroom with
smiles. Making kids feel cared about and giving them confidence in themselves.
11. Yes, I think about leaving every time I have a bad day or a bad year- when I had a horribly behaved group, when a parent was rude for no reason, etc...
12. Grade 4/5 - all subjects but I love math and science and language
13. Being a good class manager, being a good role model in action and love of learning
14. When I peer tutored in highschool
15. Try it out by volunteering in a classroom. Find the grade and subject you like best. RESEARCH and choose your school and principal carefully. And a truism- You can't please ALL of the people ALL of the time- you can only please SOME of the people SOME of the time.
