I just moved from a rural-type school to a more "inner city" school. WOW!! What a difference! These kids make the ones I used to think were bad seem like angels. And these are third graders!! I have had to incorporate a whole new classroom management system. It's sometimes scary to me to think of how much public education has changed since my own school days in the 70's and 80's...Teachers no longer get respect from students because it's taught at home. If we do get respect, it's because we have to force them to and that is sad. I feel like I'm fighting a losing battle at times.
