also when the subfinder calls, perhaps they could mention there are blank children in the room and blank aides, so they won't feel stranded. It is helpful to know the classroom composite-- are they autistic, low-functioning, SED, etc. I was a spec. ed aide & when a sub would come, we would take over. Both the sub & the adies liked that because it didn't disrupt the flow-- the kids knew us. The sub was there to lend a hand and for legal reasons. This works, of course, if you have good aides.

And yes, when you find one you like-- praise! Subs are often under-appreciated, (not whining-- just a fact,)so praise goes a long way for most of us!
