and yes, they tend to let the students use their first names. I've never understood this because these are the students that need the most structure/boundaries. I would advise you to use Mr. and your first name. This seemed to be a common practice w/the teacher's who didn't want the student to think they were their pal/equal status. Personally, as a sub. I would use the traditional way of addressing a teacher since you'll need the respect to survive. Good luck!
