Resource teacher is a very multitasked position. Knoe that this is just my first year. I am the case holder, resp. for I.E.P. and all the admin. and paperwork involved. This is HUGE part of my job, especially because I am| working under Federal Law. I am responsible for seeing that the accomodations in the IEP are followed AND helping make that happen (whether it it reducing the # of problems on a test, having a pull-out group to reteach or teach skills...and sometimes give the grades, and consulting with the reg. teacher in advocating for that child. Which is priority? That is difficult and becomes an issue | |
of philosophy. Sometimes I have to cancel classes to have meetings with parents,and do assessment testing. I don't like to do that, but have no choice. Teachers don't always understand.
Well, there's a start. I'd love to hear other views
