I often have my class write meaningful sentences using the vocabulary. We discuss as a class whether the sentences are meaningful or not. If we can figure out the meaning of the word using the context then the sentence is meaningful. They are getting pretty good with it. It takes practice though. I like the drawing thing the above poster mentioned.
