Classroom Newspaper
By Leslie

Clip to ScrapBook
I've done this before. I purchased a book called "Create Your Own Class Newspaper" by Incentive Publications. I liked some of the ideas and graphic organizers provided in the book, but I ended up using them more as supplemental writing activities.

The best suggestion I have is to divide the class into small groups that handle different responsibilities: sports writing, classifieds, polls, front page, current events, etc. I also assigned a student management team to overlook deadlines, serve as editors, and work to compile the pieces.

Overall, it was very challenging. My school had geriatric computers, so we did lots of cutting and pasting to make things fit. I had to do much more editing than I planned to.

Good luck!
