smile and nod
By MCZ

Clip to ScrapBook
Smile and nod and say "Thank you so much for your suggestions. I will be sure to take them into consideration," and either adopt their ideas if you like them, or throw them in the garbage. Try to remember that you are in
charge of your class, and you must do things as you see fit. Some parents are total control freaks. There is nothing that you are doing or could be doing that would meet their approval. If they have the nerve to keep badgering you, tell them the specific goals you have for your entire class of students and recommend possible activities they could do as a supplemental way to achieve the
goals that they have for their child. If the lawyer says, "But my wife does it this way in her classroom...," gently thank him for sharing his ideas, but make it clear that this is your classroom and you do things differently. Parents only have power over you if you let them have it. Thankfully, you will only have to deal with these parents for a year, before they start harassing the next year's teacher!
