Clip to ScrapBook
From what I see of the kids we're putting through this "get ready for the test" rigor, I predict that we're creating a future society that will either be able to succeed if they stretch really har--or they will give up early. Those who stretch will be stressed and angry; and the ones who give up will need to be taken care of forever. I wish we could just encourage children to be good at what they're good at, and to search for that good thing until they find it. The tests seem to create a winner/loser ideology in a world that could so easily be win-win if everyone believed that their individual strenghts were valuable in spite of their weaknesses.
