The way I look at it is, if the sub caller knows they can rely on you to fill spots they have to fill, eventually it will pay off and you will be called more when others are sitting at home. I was trying to think of a subtle way to complain to one sub caller who I know only calls as a last resort. She gives me a lot of 1/2 days in 6th grade. I hate being in the middle school but don't want to turn any work down yet. (she has only called once for a full day) Luckily I have some teachers in this district who call me for full days. She called one day to throw me in another half day assignment and was insulted when I told her I was already working for another teacher in the district. She "I" did not schedule that! Like I went over her head, ugg. I am sure she has her regular list of subs she likes and gives them all the best assignments but I have 3 other districts who call me and I do not want to turn down a full day from them to take her leftovers. I finally decided that I will say yes to any full day work she offers but if she wants a half day, I will tell her to call me in the morning and explain that I do not want to turn down a full day. Then If I am not working at least I can work a half day. It may hurt me in the long term with her but I am getting a lot of calls from the other districts so in the long run it might be better to be available to the other callers who do call me frequently.
