Talking to kids
By Ken

Clip to ScrapBook
I have also heard some horror stories about subs.

I would not take this kind of thing up with the principal/ass't. principal but I suspect they know this sub. is yelling at the kids. I would take it up with a higher-up
if there was swearing involved or this yelling of "shut up" and similar was going on all day. This would be the same as physical abuse but if it is minimal I would be reluctant to get involved in supervision of another sub.

Today I am sub'ing for a 5th grade group and I am going to try using the 3 Star method that Deni had posted about previously. I had some of this class when I sub'd

for the art teacher last week and did have to raise my voice several times to be heard over the continual talking of several. I decided I'm not going to talk loud as it could easily become yelling and I do not want to be yelling at kids, regardless of what is going on.

Best, Ken in WI
