Clip to ScrapBook
I had a class just like that last year. I did a few things that helped some. We had a class meeting every afternoon before leaving. Everyone would sit in a circle and I would suggest some way of thanking others. Sometimes they could thank anyone, sometimes the person to their right, sometime just someone they hadn't thanked before. I tried to get them to focus on using action words- "Kris helped me pick up my books." rather than "Kris is my friend." It worked well most of the time. I also have a "caught being nice" jar in my room. If the kids have extra time they can write a note to a class mate that they saw do something nice. I read the notes out loud at class meeting sometimes.
