cat in striped room
By sj

Clip to ScrapBook
Somewhere in my college courses--about the same time we were studying Montessori and Piaget--I remember mention of some experiments that were done in Italy in the mid-1900's. One was about babies not being held or talked to and how they became less responsive as a result and one was about a cat that was placed in a striped room with nothing to stimulate him and how he was unable to respond later. I remember this was tied to studies on early childhood and the importance of nurture and stimulation of the mind in the early years. Maybe this will jog someone else's memory with the names of the studies, or set you on a trail. Sorry I can't help more.
