testing
By Leslie

Clip to ScrapBook
What does your school psychologist say? Get advice there first. At our school, they are reluctant to test one so young. It is a matter of degree. Sometimes when you test them so young, they don't qualify for anything and if you had waited a year they would . Then, they won't test because they say they already did that. Frustrating, isn't it? Usually if the parents request, they test. I would try to get a little family history too. Have you conferenced with the parents? Sometimes they are either just slow to mature, on the low end of the scale, or truly have a processing problem. How would the service to the child change in reality? Can the child be moved to a different class where he/she gets more help without an IEP? More to think about. Good luck.
