Water
By Farrah

Clip to ScrapBook
Last year in fourth grade we talked about how molecules move in water, ice, and water vapor, and I had the chidren be the 'molecules' and they acted out what real molecules would do.
Another thing I did was make rain.
Get a hotplate and boil water until you see steam. Then take a metal pan with ice inside it and hold it over the steam. The steam will condense when it touches the bottom of the metal pan and then it will 'rain.'
We also did an experiment about the difference in how cold and hot water moves. I can't remember exactly how it went. I think I had a glass of ice cold water and a glass
of very hot water and we put food coloring in each glass and watched it move through the water. I believe the coloring in the hot water spread out faster because of the faster moving molecules.
