I did some math journaling with second graders several years ago. I basically had them answer questions about how they arrived at a problem or what was hard, easy, etc. Just about anything works. The kiddies loved
it, and they especially loved reading/sharing from their journals.

Every class is different, so you will need to decide how often works for your kids. You don't want to frustrate or bore them, so start out 2xs a week.
