more salary discrim than age
By oldie

Clip to ScrapBook
I think the admin is acting on salary amounts rather than just age, but the message remains that older isn't good...then the younger/newer sort of act out that philosophy as they attempt to please the admin. Those retired
people who go back to work usually get starting teacher pay, not what they would get if they hadn't retired. Some teachers in my area have actually retired and been rehired and make more with retirement income & the starting salary!! Unfortunately, those jobs have an even less secure future, many are for specific programs that may not last but a year or two. They are also often only
part-time. Relocating isn't much of an option for me...little town, 1/2 the houses for sale, couldn't buy another for what I'd get for this one, husband's job not easily moved, family all lives here..etc. I'm rather locked in. Not much I can really do about it but complain!
