TAAS
By Sarah

Clip to ScrapBook
I am also from Texas, and absolutely hate these state mandated tests. I teach Kindergarten, so my kids aren't affected. However the old TAAS test did affect my little sister. My sister had passed all of her classes in highschool,
and she had passed the reading and writing parts of the TAAS. She's never done well in math and didn't pass the math section of it. She was so close and got a 67. Because of the TAAS she was not able to be in her highschool graduation ceremony or receive her diploma. She finally did pass the math part of the TAAS, but she will never have a highschool graduation. She's in college
now, and hopefully will someday have a college graduation, but your highschool graduation ceremony is a very special memory that my sister will never have. So I obviously do not believe in these standarized tests at all. Not that it mattered to the school district, but my mother wrote to them and called the principal about her outrage about the tests and how they didn't prepare her for it.
